Mount Kilimanjaro- The Fantasm of South Africa

Mount Kilimanjaro, located in the North-Eastern region of Tanzania, the highest mountain in South Africa. It is neighbored by one of the most popular parks of S.A., one of them being the Northern Park. The Serengeti & Ngorongoro are the most popular sights of this park. This mountain is 5.895km in height and is the world’s highest free-standing mountain. It is also acknowledged as The Root of Africa.

Best Time to Tour

Kilimanjaro trekking tours can be best done between June to Feb (prefer to finish before the end of Feb and start after the 1st week of June). March beginning to May end, the mountain experiences wet weather. This mountain sees a rush in climbers between July to October end. Numerous trekkers arrive for Mount Kilimanjaro trip, aspiring for a huge overland crusade on the world’s highest freestanding mountain.

A General Guide before You Trek

People with an intermediate degree of fitness, an optimistic posture turn out to be good climbers. Take the marginally higher amount of carbohydrates than usual before 2-3 days of trekking. Consume foods enriched with vitamins & minerals. Prepare & consume 8-10% isotonic Octane solution to prevent dehydration while trekking. With regular intake of a proportionate diet carbohydrate, protein and fat, low blood sugar situation can be prevented while on trekking. Keep Vaseline or Vicks Vaporub while on trekking. The moisturized air from your nose or lips may freeze which becomes uncomfortable. Bring earplugs as many people snore at night. Hand/feet warmers are recommended for female trekkers as they catch cold more easily than males. Have a decongestant spray as many people suffer from sinus congestion at such heights.
